January 10th/19
The jerseys to be worn during this year's NHL all star skills competition and 3 on 3 tournament will be made in-part, from recycled Parley ocean plastic. The jerseys are black & white and will be worn on January 25th as the city of San Jose hosts the weekend of festivities.
This isn't the first time adidas (makers of the NHL jerseys) has done something environmentally friendly as they have a line of there boost shoes also made partially by Parley ocean plastic. It makes us look at all the other top sports brands to see how they are getting involved in the community and being environmentally friendly.

I think that creating jerseys out of plastics is a very cool and productive idea! If we sent out teams to collect plastics and waste on beaches and oceans then take them to factories and facilities to re-create them into jerseys we could be saving our ecosystems and creating thousands of jobs for people across Canada or even the United States. I'm happy to hear that sports organizations have taken part in something productive hopefully others will follow suite.
ReplyDeleteI think it’s an interesting concept that should be used more often. I’m wondering if the partially plastic jersey would ressemble the feel of the original jerseys. Also I wonder if these jerseys would be more popular among fans when purchasing jerseys at the game, rather than the original ones.
